Today I saw my first turtle on a beach dive in PA.
Even though is almost guaranteed to see turtles on Turtle Reef or Paamul, when beach diving from our garden you need to go very far into the sea to see them. As I still use a single tank when beach diving, I cannot go so much into the sea. But today, Alan was very nice allowing me to share the gas from his doubles, so that I could go there. Here is the picture of the turtle with Alan taking a picture of it. Yes, I know, a pic of a pic! Well, what can I say. We both like underwater photography.

The work to repair the palapa roof of Puerto Aventuras Cultural Center (best known as "The Church")is almost done.
The new structure looks even prettier than before. They are now working on the little details missing here and there.
It seams that services will be restarting by Eastern if not earlier.

Very much related with all the improvements been done is the area is the construction of the new hospital.
This will give to all of us, mommies, a piece of mind. We will now have a fully equipped hospital, at only 15 minutes from PA!
And after they finished the widening of the highway, it will be even less than that!
The new hospital is the sister company of the Hospiten that is already working in Cancun. You can visit their website, to find out the services that they provide.

Colonos is not the only one working to improve the area.
Fox has kept his word of widening the highway Playa del Carmen - Tulum. The idea is to have a wide highway all the way from Cancun to Tulum.
Never seen before in Mexico, the work on the highway keep on going every day non-stop until very late at night.
The new lanes are coming up very fast, and we can also see that it is a very good quality work, with several layers been done in the highway.
They are working on the additional lanes all the way from Playa to Paamul (only 5 km from PA), so it looks like than in a short period our quality of driving will improve considerably.
February 3rd 2006
Colonos keep on working on all the necessary work to leave the storms behind.
As you can see, a lot of work has already been done on the green areas, and they are now working on the palapa of the main entrance.
Our goal is to be fully renovated by March.
Looking at the amount and the speed of the work been done, it seams that we will reach our target.
So, start packing your suitcases and get ready to visit us in spring!

Good news! Colonos was finally reimbursed for the church damages by the insurance company and already started repairing the roof of the Puerto Aventuras Cultural Center (better know as "The Church")
These pictures were taken today, under the astonish eyes of the workers, who couldn't figured out why somebody will be so interested on their work.
Is interesting to pay attention to the architecture of the Church. At the sides, what at first glance are simple windows, they are actually crosses. Also, the cross that normally is on top of the altar of a church, is not inside the church, it is in the backyard. An excellent trick to solve the problem of lack of walls to hang the cross.
The workers told me that they believe that this same Sunday a service will be held at the Church. I personally think that that is a little to soon, but we will see ...
As a separate note, we would like to advertise that we are selling a second hand dishwasher and a washer machine. They are both in excellent conditions and ready to go to the house of whoever offers 150 USD for each unit. If you are interested on any of them, please contact me at liliana@alanformstone.com.

Puerto Aventuras close the 2005 chapter with full occupancy.
Now, we are starting a New Year. We have a lot of things to celebrate. A good example is the first month of our brand new female baby dolphin. You can see her swimming with her mother in the pool right in front of Tiramisu. She is the eight dolphin born in captivity in Puerto Aventuras.
At this moment, we have 36 dolphins in the marina. Normally we only have 21, but we have the dolphins that used to be at Cozumel on loan until Cozumel can re-open. We also have some extra Sea Lions. Some of them are the ones in this picture. So, if you like to swim with dolphins, manatees and sea lions, Puerto Aventuras is the place to be this season.
We are also waiting for a new birth. An other dolphin is one month from her due date. To keep her safe, she has already been relocated to her own pool.
