Puerto Aventuras - Emily Damage
July 2005
Puerto Aventuras is working day and night to recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Emily. Most roads and paths have been cleared already.
The power is on its way, there have been some attempts to restart power over the weekend of 23rd and 24th of July. Total power restoration is expected for Monday 25th July.
The marina, shopping area and buildings still appear to have no major damage. The vegetation suffered the worst, but with such a good climate will be back in no time.
As was already known, the palapas suffered a lot. You can easily see it on the pictures showing the Serena Spa before and after Emily's visit.
The rooftops and infrastructure of some buildings suffered a too in ways that are not so evident from ground level.
Puerto Aventuras is recovering quickly. Now with internal access clear, the beach in good state, pools cleared and electricity almost back, Puerto Aventuras is pretty much ready to continue as it was. Thanks again to Juan, for providing detailed photos of how things really are.
